Seedball - the easy way to plant - Eight varieties to choose from

£6.50

What is a Seedball?

A ball made from seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chili powder.

Why use Seedballs?

The ball prevents the seeds from being a tasty lunch for birds and insects, thereby increasing the chances of your flowers growing. Plus they’re super easy to use, no digging and no expert knowledge needed!

What's in the tin?

There are 20 balls in each tin, and around 30 seeds per ball.

How do I use Seedballs?

Throw onto soil or compost in a garden bed or planter in Spring or Autumn, leaving at least 10cm between each ball. Your Seedball has everything it needs to grow and, once the ball becomes moist and the temperature is right, your seeds will germinate!

Choose from:

Artist's Meadow

Inspired by the wildflowers growing outside of artist Yvonne Coomber's studio in Devon, Yvonne has painted a canvas for Seedball called ‘Here Is Where All The Wildflowers Grow’. We’ve taken a section of this painting to create this totally gorgeous design for our Artist’s Meadow Tin, with the seed mix being of those flowers from the painting.

To complete our collaboration, for every tin sold, Seedball donates 20p to The Wildlife Trusts, a totally inspiring conservation charity working to save our wild places while bringing people closer to nature.

Each ball contains approximately 30 seeds per ball from a mix of Common Poppy, Oxeye Daisy, Musk Mallow, Corn Marigold, Purple Field Scabious, Red Campion and White Cow Parsley. Each tin has 20 seed balls, enough to cover 1 metre square in a garden bed or 3-5 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball). Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Bird Mix

A mix of wildflowers that is perfect for attracting birds to our gardens to feed on seeds and insects. According to the RSPB, a lack of habitat and food abundance has lead to huge decline (over 50% in the last 45 years) of many common UK garden bird species.

Our Bird Mix is designed to feed the birds for you, and is a much more sustainable option to buying bagged bird feed! The careful selection of plants will boost the food supply for a wide range of birds including goldfinches, blue tits, chaffinches, greenfinches, robins, starlings, increasing the number of birds seen in your garden. Whilst in bloom the flowers will attract insects that many birds feed on, while birds will also feed directly on the plants and seeds themselves. Includes corn marigold, common poppy, greater knapweed, sheep sorrel, tufted vetch and wild carrot.

Each ball contains approximately 30 seeds per ball, and each tin will provide coverage for 1 square metre in a garden, or 3-5 medium sized pots. Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Cornflower

Brilliantly blue British cornflowers. These iconic and distinctive flowers are fantastic for bees, beetles, butterflies and moths, and are a simply marvellous addition to any wildlife garden. They are also edible with a cucumber-like taste, and can be used in salads, as a garnish or infused as a tea!

Each ball contains on average 8 seeds, and each tin will provide coverage for 1 square metre in a garden, or 3-5 medium sized pots. Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Hedgehog Mix

Seedball have teamed up with People’s Trust for Endangered Species to bring you our popular Hedgehog Mix! The UK’s hedgehog population is struggling, with numbers down by 50% since the turn of the century, but we can all do something to help by growing British wildflowers! A wildflower patch is a super addition to creating a hedgehog friendly garden, not only in providing shelter but importantly to attract a whole range of tasty insects for hedgehogs to feed on. Yum!

Proceeds from the sale of every tin go directly to supporting PTES in their conservation work. Each tin of Hedgehog Mix contains 20 seed balls, enough to cover 1 metre square in a garden bed or 3-5 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball). Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Each seed ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mix of Yellow Rattle, Wild Carrot, Birdsfoot Trefoil, Tufted Vetch, Self Heal and Poppy.

Poppy

A tin bursting with common poppy seeds. A bright red flowering annual – this hugely popular native wildflower is fantastic for pollinators and garden birds and a stunning addition to any wildflower garden. Poppies are also a big favourite of ours for window boxes or for other small growing spaces.

Each ball contains around 100 seeds, and each tin will provide coverage for 1 square metre in a garden, or 3-5 medium sized pots. Best scattered in the Spring or Autumn.
